Forgive me

I don't believe forgiveness can be given. Time is the healer. Written in 1978.

Forgive me

Please forgive me for what I did to you.

I'm sorry I torture you with lies and treated
you as I did.

I was young.
Learning to love.

Finding the many mistakes young lover's can make.

I left you alone and swimming in tears and loneliness.

I hope all your thoughts of me are not filled with hate.

But filled with fond memories of two lovers learning
to touch and  to love.

Even through our ending ended in anger and sadness.
We allowed the world to separate us.

You are still a beautiful face and tender memories I can't forget.

I hope I didn't destroy your desire to love and feel.

I hope your new beginning are filled with happiness and joy.

I hope you didn't throw away all the love we held and gathers.

You came and said goodbye to me.
I was leaving Germany.
We held each other for the last time.

I whispered.
Thank you sweet lady for sharing love with a foolish man.

"Even THOUGH our ending ended..." Not through. A few other grammatical mistakes but other than that I LOVED it! Sometimes all we have are memories. Even when the person we love or care about is long gone or no longer who they were, we can still look back at the memories and smile with a few bitter sweet tears. J'adore!

As always such a beautifully personal and unabashed piece by you, I cannot but hope to emulate such honesty. I enjoyed the style of this piece immensely and it rhythm one of your better pieces for sure! Bravo! One small typo I noticed, "Even through *are* ending ended in anger and sadness" I assume you mean, "Even through *our* ending ended in anger and sadness." But it did not detract from the piece in slightest.

As for the subject I would hope that the young lady was not so petty as to still hold such circumstances against you. Everyone's first love is so spectacularly joyous and also so very painful - our novitiate in love is a difficult one. I forgive my first for the pains he caused me, and I would hope those for whom I was the first forgive me mine but such matters are their own I suppose.

Regardless I found myself enjoying this piece greatly, thank you for sharing and bringing it to my attention.

For me, forgiveness is hard to define. You can't simply give it, just like you can't mumble the words I'm sorry for every mistake you make. It takes an effort over time to show you truly are sorry, and in some cases, asking for forgiveness takes time to receive because it is just like an apology. You can't just say it. You have to learn and earn. Good poem. It truly speaks from the heart.
