Forgive me

Forgive me

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

I don't believe forgiveness can be given. Time is the healer. Written in 1978.

"

Forgive me

Please forgive me for what I did to you.

I'm sorry I torture you with lies and treated
you as I did.

I was young.
Learning to love.

Finding the many mistakes young lover's can make.

I left you alone and swimming in tears and loneliness.

I hope all your thoughts of me are not filled with hate.

But filled with fond memories of two lovers learning
to touch and  to love.

Even through our ending ended in anger and sadness.
We allowed the world to separate us.

You are still a beautiful face and tender memories I can't forget.

I hope I didn't destroy your desire to love and feel.

I hope your new beginning are filled with happiness and joy.

I hope you didn't throw away all the love we held and gathers.

You came and said goodbye to me.
I was leaving Germany.
We held each other for the last time.

I whispered.
Thank you sweet lady for sharing love with a foolish man.

"Even THOUGH our ending ended..." Not through. A few other grammatical mistakes but other than that I LOVED it! Sometimes all we have are memories. Even when the person we love or care about is long gone or no longer who they were, we can still look back at the memories and smile with a few bitter sweet tears. J'adore!

This plea for forgiveness reminds me of the time when my mom and her recent ex husband were having a hard time with their marriage. This is what he should have been saying to my mother. You're a beautiful writer. Don't stop loving, and continue to be gentle. Because your author's note is so true.

Your plea for forgiveness is heartachingly sad and endearing at the same time... To have loved and lost your true love because of your naivety is heartbreaking. Unfortunately we all have to go through this at some point. Thank you for sharing this touching piece.

This poem is beautiful. In a way I feel like it speaks to me. And you're right, we must learn to be kind and gentle...we are mostly very harsh, especially in the emotion of love ...which is upsetting and proof of foolishness

In full honesty, in submission to the passed truths, realizations, a message for the present and the future. Beautiful choice of words asking for forgiveness but also showing your thorough internalization of events passed. Especially your lines where you express what you "hope" for your loved one are etching their mark in the reader's mind and heart. I found this poem very moving, to the extent that it took me to my own past, where I wasn't the one who got hurt (probably, at that) but the one who did the hurting. Years later, an eerie coincidence (are there even such things as coincidences?) bridged me to the one I had hurt. The realization for me then was that loved one had healed beyond my best hopes and expectations. I hope yours has, too. Thank you for sharing such an honest and beautiful work.
