Alone

Alone

A Poem by Cat

Fallen Leaves,

Like wounded soldiers,

No one to tend to them.

Rakes,

Deserted.

Hoses,

Dry.

Cats yowl, scratch and claw,

Following rats through the jungle of takeaway cartons

They creep among the weeds.

Boarded windows, nailed doors.

Strings from windchimes hang,

The wood long disappeared.

Coca Cola branding the road,

White lines fade away,

No one needs them.

Obsolete, desolate.

Abandoned, forgotten.

Alone.
