Her Eyes

Her Eyes

A Poem by Centipedle

She never spoke a word to me,
But I could tell what she was saying.
Whether she was in pain,
Or if her happiness couldn’t be contained.
I watched her each and every day,
I paid attention to what her eyes told me.
Her eyes told me everything.
Her happiness at the altar.
Her depression at loss.
There never needed to be one word spoken.
Because the love that was between us,
Was spent on those two green eyes.
That said she loved me.

I wrote this for a contest, it's going to be read on a radio show. I don't usually write romance either but I figured I would give it a shot!

Gentle and beautiful use of words. I liked the description and the emotions shared. I liked the flow of thoughts leading to a perfect ending. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

There is this saying in Arabic
That every man of intelligence
would understand through simple signals
not needing more
eyes are the gateway to the soul
its all there
just have to be silent enough to listen

Well you nailed it!!!!! Eyes truly are the windows to our souls. The use of them as language and expression without ever needing to hear verbal words is a powerful statement. I don't think you can get much more romantic than that.
