Raining On the Fields

Raining On the Fields

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

You linger in love letters and sleep deeply within souls...........

"

You linger in love letters and sleep deeply within souls

Often, observed in the look in one's eyes
Those windows where shadows hold time will reveal
Spirits of feelings, nameless and faceless
Yet, not to be denied

You rain on the fields of a forgotten melody so sweet
As soft feathers from a time standing still
Dancing on the toes of the soul, you sleep within
Kept alive in the touch of a teardrop's salt
As master of all will

You hide quickly away within the warmth of a smile
While your sweet music continues to play
To be held as an unforgotten scent within a soul
Whose eyes have pulled down the shades
On those feelings today

i thought this was so beautifully written the first time i read it, i head to come back and read it again. even more so now that i read your author's note. but there will always be reminders of those who have left us... in love letters, in rain, in music... but you have expressed it here so perfectly, it is truly a mix of sadness and yet beauty.

Very heartfelt and solid. I can tell this was cathartic! I'm sorry to hear of your loss but your coping tool reveals your skill and heart.

You have found the center of every soul's loss here, Neva, and given it sensation. Well-chosen images and well-captured wistful joy, grief and longing. I feel the regeneration of your missing him here. Thank you.

this is sooooo expressive...to talk about a loved one's memory as "Dancing on the toes of the soul" it one of the most amazing expressions, and the overall imagery here is absolutely stunning...

a beautiful piece, neva, written as only u can. given the sadness of the subject, it is not depressed or depressing, which would have been very easy to slip into. excellent write, as always, neva :)

Full of pathos.. lovely echoes and whispers and shadows that flit in and out of the soul... an unforgotten scent, even when the shades are down...
