Along the Beach

Along the Beach

A Poem by Fabian G. Franklin
"

A bit of staggered rhyme and alliteration.

"

To walk along the beach

In the early morning

And feel salt air upon my skin

To look toward heaven

And seagulls all

swoop and screech, pin-wheeling

There, to come upon a shell

Glimmering pink conch

Resting in the sand

Washed forth from some

Distant storm

Sweeping the shores of islands

Perhaps to find a razor tooth

from some great shark

Which swam with monsters of the earth

Horseshoe Crabs and starfish

Or sand dollars rolling in the surf

Hear the golden sea oats rustle;

Whoosh and whisper of the tide

Upon the horizon

Endless Atlantic stretching

Beyond the gaze of human eyes

Dreams are hopes full of helium

Rising like hot air balloons; like

sun across silver-washed sand

Until only one dream remains

To walk along the beach

In the afternoon

"Upon the horizon, endless Atlantic stretching beyond the gaze of human eyes..."

I always feel connected with nature whenever I walk along the beach. It's a good catharsis for whatever ails the body, mind and soul. Much enjoyed the alliteration of this piece, Fabian! Good to meet you.

'Along the Beach'
Fabian G. Franklin,
Your poem is like the reflection within your soul and then emanating as a new interpretation.
This was beautiful and am so glad to get to read it right away. New for me. This winds itself
up in a lovely descriptive tune and then comes together in the last stanza so perfect!
'Dreams are hopes full of helium
Rising like hot air balloons 'like
sun across silver- washed sad
Until only one dream remains
To walk along the beach
in the afternoon.'
Wow and wow, I found this whole writing so beautiful as I love God's creation.
Bless you
Kathy
