Forever Surreal

Forever Surreal

A Story by Chelsea Lavender

There I was sitting on the edge at 12,00 feet, getting ready to jump, intensely canvassing the most gorgeous view my callow blue eyes had ever seen. My knees were hanging off the extreme edge, a wind as soft as silk was brushing against my face and with a mind so cloudless I felt like I was being reborn. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, smiled and glided into a serene painting of delicate clouds.

A spur of intense powerful energy suddenly filled my dainty yet firm body whilst I fell into nothingness at 200 km. Thousands of butterflies gradually fluttered underneath my skin creating a tingling sensation along my back, my heart beating rapidly with my head feeling as if it was hovering above me.

I was floating on a cushion of air;swaying through the dancing wind, with my eyes wide open watching the never ending waves seamlessly move over and under each other whilst the rich golden sand was swirling through the wispy cool air. As I drifted lower to the shore I could hear the composed laughter of children, I could taste the salt in the sea, I could smell the fresh summer breeze and as my feet slowly skimmed across the soft sand I could feel a sense of change and liberation within myself.

I paused and looked at my surroundings, every sound was muted, even the thoughts in my head. It was just me in complete and utter silence.I took in every detail of every little thing that was spaced around me and I just breathed. I was sitting on a throne and beneath it was quartz, tiny, elegant grains of quartz which was heated perfectly by nature itself.

Beautifully written and the idea its self is so simple, but its delivered so well. You created a wonderful image of the scenery in my mind and I really loved the closing phrase 'Tiny, elegant grains of quartz which was heated perfectly by nature itself'. Really good job!

I knew someone who jumped. She said it was amazing. As for myself, I'll stay on the ground and watch.

"sitting on the edge at 12,00 feet". Might want to increase your elevation. Beautiful imagery and I was there with you. From the time I was about 14 I have wanted to jump, but thought better of it. Envy your doing this activity. I really like the story.

Thanks for reading and your comments, grateful :)
Interesting scenario... quite majestic honestly. That silence in ones head is a hard thing to reach, and really only happens when something that magnificent happens. Too bad a fall like that would normally result in death, hah!

Good job :)
