Please understand that this is a rough draft and I'm new to the whole letting people read my writing thing. It scares the hell out of me. This story is not at all finished, I'm just curious to know what people think.

Very good story. I liked the idea of second chances and the characters were interesting. There are a few technical problems, but you said this was a rough draft. That can be fixed in the subsequent revisions.
You have a good narrative voice. The story flows to a satisfying conclusion.
Good work. Keep writing.
