"You can't act that way." the grandma said
"I won't have you be a brat." said Pop
"Don't call me that!" Peyton pleaded. "That's not a nice thing to say."
"What do you think that means?" asked Pop
"It's a girl without a father!" She said with authority.
"No silly, it means you aren't acting nice."

The moment you realize everyone is talking about something different. lol

You got that right and I've quoted that movie before.
Now that is funny, very funny. Not every one can capture this kind of observational experience and mold a cohesive little story around it...................I bet a few eyebrows were raised, am still smiling at the thought.......

We (everyone) takes something said in many different ways, this was a cute way of showing that.

That is funny, Cherrie! What a humorous illustration about how we so often misinterpret what others say, or don't speak clearly enough. You made every reader think about at least one word, yet you never had to say it. Very clever. Nice work!
