Come here to me, 

my little sweet-pea.

I need a better look, 

Your silence, said come see. 

And there you were,

 in the willow tree. 

Have you snuck a yummy snack? 

That face takes me back. 

I adore those bobbing curls. 

There's mischief, 

in your sea of green. 

Son are you being coy with me? 

I see you shake  your head so sweet. 

Are you sure you didn't get sister's treat? 

Her pooling eyes of grey, 

says a storm, will come our way. 

Now one more time I'll ask 

tell the truth my little lamb. 

Look at tiny sister Rose 

then tell. 

Because I'm sure 

that's chocolate sauce on your nose.

Indeed a nice portrayal of children and the rivalry between siblings. I once snuck a chocolate bar one night and ate it in my bunk bed. My elder brother dobbed me in to my mum!

Ah Cherrie, this is indeed a sweet treat, and so relatable too. When mine were little this was so typical and it generated tears by the bucket. Happily they share beautifully now, no tears anymore. I so enjoyed the memories your poem brought to me. Thank you.

Haaa!!! I remember sneaking Archway Lemon cookies from my grandmas cookie jar at like 4 in the morning and taking them back to bed, only to be caught because the sheets were a crumby mess. I love this little slice of life...kids are the best.

You know sometimes I write about an actual event. But I think as a whole I use slivers of the past. My mind shuffles them together like a deck of cards(weird I know) and wa-la,
I've repurposed a string of memories.

try it you will like it. pick a story you've already written and imagine the story is being told by a different player in the tale. Like Peyton's story about Ella the wolf. What if we wrote about Brutus the bear. Poof! A brand new story.
