As A

As A

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

The hungry cook begins to bake

As a sleeping child begins to wake.

A gifted artist loads some red

As a weeping saint counts the dead.

A violin tuned releases tears

As a hate filled man only sneers.

An empty soul needs some love

from the Master’s hand found above.

An adventures soul enjoys the climb

one clip at a time soaring high.

A needful soul with a poet’s hands, stir the

souls of both woman and man.

I watched the movie Schindler's List for the first time a few nights ago... maybe it's because it's still fresh on my mind, but this reminds me of that.
I see the peace...then chaos, then persecution and genocide that took place in those people's lives.
I see God seemingly standing so far away.. but also closer than anyone of them realizing.

Interesting piece of rhyming couplets As A seems to fade from stanza four onwards? But there are lots of very interesting images and suggestions that make us think that somewhere something else is happening.

I wanted it to have that, 'mean while, back on the ranch,' vibe. I'm glad it does.

Ah I should have guessed lol!
To me, your poem is an artful, hopeful, & gentle rebuke of people's tendency lately to look at so much bad stuff going on & letting this fact define life for the entire year 2020 as if we should just throw this year away. Well, life is always full of both good & bad, so while we're perusing the bad, let's also remember to be cognizant of so much good that quiet little people are still making happen. Nicely uplifting poem! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
