Winter's Coat

Winter's Coat

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Winter's coat
   is not yet fastened.
As I catch myself
   yearning for
the buds of Spring.

Yes, those delicate bud of spring seem the most attractive when one looks down the long darkening road to winter. Nice. Simple. Direct. Very nice.

Thank you Rick so very much :)
Not quite yet ready to surrender to the cold, one should always hold onto hope, beautifully written Cherrie...

Good morning Ruth and thank you:)
The autumnal yearn for the vernal creaks of the crepuscular desire for dawn. May the dead trees become alive again.

Lovely metaphorical expression, a touch to the center of sentience.

I'm ready to see Winter's work and fire up the fireplace.
Love the metaphor you have used here Cherrie and your posted image is a delight. A lovely little piece of brevity. Winter is not a season I particularly favour, but I take it as it comes knowing that the season of rebirth will be coming soon. All good wishes.

Winter has yet to fully arrive and you are already missing Spring, it's so relatable. Personally, I am one to embrace each season of change and always look forward to the promise each season may bring. Your metaphor is well selected and very astute. I enjoyed the poem. 💛

Perhaps select a moment seasonally wrapped then - wear it forever?
Here in Michigan, Winter left for a week. Me and the grandchildren went to the beach. 75 degrees days and sunny. A miracle for Michigan. We took the jackets off the grandchildren enjoyed the Indian Summer in November. I hope for more. Thank you dear Annette for sharing your amazing poetry and your thoughts.

Me too. Poor nature is confused. I am not complaining. I will return to the lake dear Cherrie.
