Where is my heart?

Where is my heart?

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Where is my heart?

It is with you.

That is why your world I pursue.

The rhythm of love is yours to command.

Time stands still just by holding hands.

My smile laced wide when you come near,

And my heart is yours just as long as I live.

You've described how some people exist in a state of love which is defined by living for the other person. Frankly, this does not sound like something I would want to do, but this is the stuff longterm relationships are made of -- a certain amount of submerging -- some giving up of one's own life is well-advised in some cases. In my life experience, I am now seeing many of these kinds of people losing a lifelong partner to death & even after years of mourning, their feelings remain the same -- those who've loved in this way often don't stop just becuz the other person has died (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

And what more could be wanted or needed than that? In these days of restrictions and not knowing when the end will come, it is a better place to be if thought of like this and it being reciprocated. We can do without such transient things, as long as we have this to hold on to.

Such sincere devotion.
If reality-based, both lovers are extremely fortunate.
As mere poetry, an ideal to aspire to.
(By the way, Stephen King is, likely, demon-possessed.)
