Angel Of Midnight

Angel Of Midnight

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

The Angel at Midnight

Down below silence reigns

as a cover of fog hugs tight the terrain.

The ceiling of stars dances on high

and mortals below are oblivious to why.

The sounds of creation live within all,

and with the nod of the Master harmony falls.

The orchestrated sonata begins with a howl.

The call of the wolf, the song of the dove,

the breaking of waves, title the song.

The rhythm of the trees, and the bending of reed

sings to our Lord in Heaven above.

The Angel of Midnight conducts the rift

with thunder and lightning a laser show begins.

Serenading angels offer praises to Him

in a language unknow to mortal man.

But silence resumes as a baby cries.

For the Savior is born,

beneath the Father's watchful eye.

And peace will come to those,

who answer the call,

and the Angel of Midnight resumes his song.

I know the stars are there even when they are obscured by the clouds of tumult, for in my heart I can feel them and see them in my minds eye. but sometimes I have to wonder why the storms have to be so virulent. it is a tough job to blow and billow them away for us poets but that doesn't mean we don't keep trying dear Cherrie for peace is indeed at hand and all the more brilliant it will be after this our darkest winter:) thank you for the poetry ! And merry Christmas to you and your family:)

The same to you, Cherrie. :)
Love this poem...and find the paradox so interesting....how can the Wise men or the shepherds follow the star of Bethlehem when the skies are stormy...
Like many of our hearts this Christmas and Holiday season...
sure is cloudy.
thanks for this poem, Cherrie....
I am still trying to find that stable.
