A Full Day

A Full Day

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

I had a full day,
-today-
the smell of
baking bread,
allowed my smile
to raise.

If that wasn't enough
on the ridge stood your stone.
From my window it was -flat grey like the sky above-

I spied your old coffee cup, on the windowsill
-my own personal treasure-
and grasped it tightly as I drank.

Then from the window glass, saw my reflection
and found you
-in the quake of emotions-
I wept.
