The Rails End

The Rails End

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

Bill (William Michael Reeves) and I wrote a volley of thoughts to create this poem. I hope you enjoy it.

"
Pardon my mind ma'am
I couldn't help but notice
Your shadow has grown

'Tis true I confess
The dark drew me ever near
Your light a beacon

My light's a journey
Dark rails of a tale to share
Hear my confession

Let us climb aboard
By cover of night converse
Share with me your tale

A tale to enchant
Listen close as we embark
Bring your shadow near

This day was too long
My soul thirsty for some joy
Your words I await

Rest your head right here
On my words your mind will lite
Your dream, is my tale

My essence lingers
Shadowing your every word
Until the rails end

Now this is a drifter's poem worthy to be recited by the fires at night. And this drifter tips his hat to haiku well done. Content and form are spot on.

I love this. My daughter and I were just singing "Steel Rails" by Allison Krauss yesterday at a Christmas gathering. I play guitar and she sings pretty good harmony for a six year old. I've been on several writing sites where there were spontaneous collaborations in live time through a chat portal. I always had great fun doing that. The resulting stories were pretty funny too. My deceased friend, Paul Squires, ran one such site called Ginga Tao. And another was an internet writing group called Cold Coffee. I met some fine writers on both those sites and a few others. I'm now doing some improv writing on MeWe and a few other places and I have my poetry blog which is just my own work. I enjoy WC. I think I've been here since Charlie set this site up...I leave, come back to visit and post here and there. I miss many of the great writers who once frequented this site but are no longer here. Some of them have died, others, moved on to publishing their works or writing novels. A few are still good friends with me and we keep in touch via the internet and telephone. I'm happy to see the spirit of collaboration isn't completely dead at WC. I enjoyed the read.

This is a wonderful collaboration of work. I myself have been working on a collaboration which was a joy to do. Both of you have produced an excellent piece of art. Thank you both for sharing this work with the community.

Thanks Carlos. This happened so easily it was a joy. I'll be watching for your collaboration.
It was fun writing this with you. I enjoyed the challenge of keeping a conversation going forward while rewriting as well. Thanks!
