My Love To Claim

My Love To Claim

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

Death

"
My love to claim

I knew this day would come.
So, I tried to plan ahead.
A day of lack pending,
as I try to push it back.

Come it shall, and has.
Full of unrelenting pain.
Ahead storm clouds gather,
As I call out your name.

My love to claim.

Thank you 😊
Losing a loved one is always sad, and often truly heartbreaking. I have lost several friends and relatives over the last couple of years. Some of them I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye to. Yes, that kind of pain hits us all, Cherrie. We can all relate to what you are saying here.

Yes it is a universal pain that we all must face
Gosh! this is not only about death but also the unrequited love, and it can be a real TORMENT. and worst when You are in a relationship and You know how it will end, when You know that You love him more that he does to You... You are preparing yourself for the harsh ending. wow my dear strong and moving words here!

Thank you 😊 and I can see how this translates to other kings of separation.
Losing someone is so hard, and as one gets older there are so many more losses..it is extremely difficult.. Strangely, but maybe not so strange at all... I wonder, at the age of 74, that if I lost the love of my life could I ever stand tall again..
Loved your words,
Lisa

It will.....
Brevity with such deep feeling. Something I think about. My sis lost her husband last year. He wasn't an old man either. Her pain is difficult enough for her family to see, yet alone her living it every day. Wonderful piece Cherrie. A memorable write.

Thank you Jacob.
Packing tears. Mailing memories to the future to claim them when we need to feel them. Yet the package has no post. Becomes a ghost crying in the closet where we stack it on all the years.
