I'm not speaking to the Moon

I'm not speaking to the Moon

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

I have no greeting for the Moon.
He left me in my darkest mood.
Clutching at the blackest night.
With no compassion for my fright.
“It was the clouds,” I heard him say.
But wrath I give him all the same.
The smallest stars wept and cried,
And the gentle breeze matched my stride.
So, I leave with injured pride.
Floating off with high tide.
Never more to seek his face, as I leave from this place.

Now that I think about it we don't really greet the moon like we do the sun. Or say good night. It felt like you were writing about the fact that we don't know the moon as well because we sleep and now it wants to punish us for our neglect. Good poem Cherrie!

I also have a bone to pick with the moon. This piece resonates with me in a lot of ways, and it's also right up my alley. I'm a sucker for poetry that deals with the night and other dark things that aren't always associated with beauty. It's also nice to see rhymed poems, and I quite like this one's rhyme scheme. Thank you for this one, it was a good read.

Wow, that was a celestial spat, if ever there was one! And the manner with which it was conveyed, a brilliant work of verse. Thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you 😊 I couldn't decide if I should identify who was speaking or leave it undeclared?

One day will come the time, and you shall know when it has come.
Kind of sad and entertaining, at the same time! To quote a couple of lines from a Rodney Crowell song (Shame on the Moon) - "Blame it on midnight. Shame on the moon!" I enjoyed the read!

Well I will hear that song all night long.
Hey Cherrie, it's a beautiful take on how sometimes we are left alone in the dark and the people we count on also leave. I enjoyed reading it :)
