The Northern Wind

The Northern Wind

A Poem by Cherrie

With the North wind
comes the milling of the birds.
They dance and swirl
fanning across sky and lea.
The winds of winter
fuels the fray,
of this feathered flight.
As the bright noon day
shines on a canvas bright.

Having some windy days in Michigan dear Cherrie. Few birds are hanging around Michigan. I do feed them with two bird feeders. The Northern wind can make our body cold. In Michigan, Winter is here and the Northern winds are blowing. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

We have the birds here as well Cherrie, hundreds of them, sometimes they have a fly-past en masse - to what purpose, who knows ? Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Thank you Ken you are most generous.
Another short beautiful poem, full of pretty imagery, the birds in this poem reminds me of my evenings staring at the flocks flying by so freely.

No problem
This poem reminds me of my days in Lockport....with that lake wind from Chicago....The birds seemed so cold and lonely...and even the sunshine was so cold.

🙂 thank you Jacob.
And what cold wind cleaves those waters.
The entire poem is a canvas of the most beautiful colours, Cherrie! Loved the whole but am taking these words with me.. wonderfully discriptive, metaphorical and all other much admiring and admired words..

'The winds of winter
fuels the fray,
of this feathered flight.
As the noon day sun shines
on a canvas bright.'

Thank you Chris 🙂
seeing and watching the birds flock, saying good bye and admiring the tenacity of those who while ride out the winter always moves me .. i do not know the meaning of the word "lea" in your poem tho .. would you enlighten me? here in the Ozark mountains birds are not noticed much because of the thick, full forests .. this time of year i can see hundreds of them flitting about the barren trees .. it's thrilling .. Fall is here :)
