Murky WaterA Poem by Cherrie PalmerBeware the Trick or Treat
Murky water black as night holds a curse that brings a fright.
neither sun, nor moonlight glow reveals this evil as it repels all hope.
So, leave not the path of faith or you will find the hand of fate.
Foolish boy and stupid girl wandering off into forbidden wood
Tickle your toes upon my banks and upon your souls I will feast.
Hear them giggle as they come,
But nary again will they make a sound.
Darkest depths will consume their cries
and muddy bog will conceal this crime
…
as I patiently
wait for another.
