Calm thoughts

Calm thoughts

A Poem by Frontier
"

This is a "found poem" I used parts from the Bhagavad Gita and James Grainger's The Sugar cane to come up with it.

"

The self by Soul, trample down his Self,

As art transforms the savage face

Musing on me, lost in the thought of Me

Indigenous Remedies, the last cane piece,

Sun darts, tropic beam,

the vain cloud, lightning splits.

Dry the sources of corrupted love

The flight of Time, shadowy wing,

Adore, as I adore, Quake, as I quake

Face so fierce, the unadorned bosom,

Jamaica’s sons, firmest base of power,

what new forms of death, this friendly human frame,

such rich veins, Prince of the Forest,

my mind can think calm thoughts once more
