Grew Apart

Grew Apart

A Poem by Chilson, Joshua
"

Sometimes we grow away from the world leaving it and the people to only know who they remember.

"
You knew the child
The young sibling
With curious eyes
And fire lit dreams
Who sat up at night
Still naive to the world
Yet to know
The clock is always ticking
Ticking away moments
Away memories
Away childish things
But you lost him along the way
Branches split
And now a man
Weathered
Rough
With eyes that have narrowed
From experiences you know not
As these are his
The sum of what makes him
Drives him
To be everything more
For what grows around him.

I write poetry from life experience, though most won't seem that way as I never get into specifics to the events that bring about my work. I'm a silent individual for the most part which doesn't ma.. more..
