Inside This Machine

Inside this Machine

I am completely networked and programmed

Or completely disconnected and distant

A dishevelled and disintegrating system

 

Outcast and lost

Within my own mind

A virus flooding through every vein 

Infecting my mentality

 

Either overwhelmed with too much feeling

In touch with every thought

Every tear a weight on my chest

Or numb beyond the surface

 

 

Inside this Machine

I grasp onto grains of reality

As they slip through my hands

And bury me below

 

Author's Note

Not my best... but please let me know what you think. I haven't been on lately due to trying to deal with feeling like this- like a "machine". Either way too emotional or not feeling anything at all. However, I think I have truly realised that writing is therapeutic for me and taking a break did more harm than good.

nice metaphor and definitely moving.. it is creative, clever, and affecting... you have done quite a good job ma'am... sometimes it is hard to find that balance between not letting things get to you so much and not feeling at all.. it is hard and takes a lot of stumbles before we find that equilibrium.... not your best?.. it is pretty good to me.... I enjoyed it... and it tugged on my heartstrings this morning... the flow was pleasant, the emotion palpable, and the writing thought-provoking... good job!!
