The Roads We Take

The Roads We Take

A Poem by Chris Atkinson

The Roads We Take
The roads we take
Mistakes we make
The s**t we take for boredom sake
The paths we chose
The loves we lose
The times that make us
Sing the blues

Think of each day
As though it’s your last
Your future will soon
Be a thing of the past
Don’t let it slip by you
Without living a few dreams
Not without seeing
A few wonderful things

Contentment in life
It’s the key to it all
Keep you’re soul strong
It will never grow old
The bad times will always
Lead to the good
The good times we’ll always
Remember with love

Just think of the future
Learn from the past
Don’t dwell on the bad times
That has already passed
Don’t leave it to late
As life slips by you fast
When you get to the end
Theirs no going back

Wise words that are worth listening to. Nice rhyming and flow. I agree that our choices affect everything. If we make wrong choices, and often we don't realise we have until quite a bit later, we can and do create disharmony. Sometimes it's okay to "just be" :) Like what you did here. Penny

never crazy about cuss words in a poem
I skip them for me it takes away the value of
the poem when we cuss in a poem
that is my option.

But other then that I loved this Stanza's line.

The roads we take Mistakes we make

Take care. Benita

Nice work. Very powerful wording and imagery. I think this is something that we can all relate to at some point in our life.
