Hero's Last Words

Hero's Last Words

A Poem by ChristianM

Runnin' to freedom, the road is my bed
Runnin' too fast or slow and I'll turn up dead
Past lookin' to put a dagger through my eye
Sail away, run far, jump up, blow on by
Through the country forgotten by most
Land is all but everywhere, gettin' to the coast
They came from above with orders to kill
It's my fault, my own, my name on the bill
Humanity's last hope lies in my hand
Time to get my wits together and make a stand

Very powerful and beautifully written. Sounds like an opening to a war novel. Great job.

powerful and effective, clearly a lot of readers who viewed this missed the entire point of the poem.

I don't really know exactly what to say about this poem, but it's strong.
