Enough

Enough

A Poem by Anne’sRants

Why do they write
These broken prose
These disconnected thoughts
To the stars

Is it for that black hole
That lives in everyones chest?
Or maybe to say, “give me the love
And attention I pretend to detest”

We are all these lost children
We ask for just a look in our direction
Just a nod to say “you’re here,
And I value your opinion”

We cry about
Our scarred skin
About our shattered,
Kaleidoscopic hearts

These hearts that beat on
With the tick of
The crocodiles clock
Mechanical; this watch

We tell the world
Thats it! I give up
So they might hug us in insincerity
And say “You are enough”

Enough for what?
Their sorry misguided standards
Their bright and distracting world
What am I enough for?

ohhhh, our insecurities! This was me when I was very young, needing help to build my confidence but too shy and stubborn to accept it. Suffered through all the hurt, tragedies and trials of life alone until I finally met that one person that could make me see that I was worth something.
