Could you Love a Monster?

Could you Love a Monster?

A Poem by Anne’sRants

So tell me,
Without hurried refusal
and empty assurance.
Without patronizing amusement.

Could you love a monster?

Could you look
into apathetic eyes,
past those dark figures
silhouetted by fire.

Could you look
past dirt encrusted fingers,
fists clenched with steel;
past these twisted features.

Could you love a monster?

Could you look
past raging seas
and scarlet shores
to lush green leaves.

Could you
pull the scarlet sword
from my embrace
and tell me it's okay once more

Could you love a monster?

Could you look past all of it?
Rip away this paper skin.
tear at this protective perception.
Tell me where this story began.

Tell me in all honesty,
Would you love a monster?

Your usage of imagery here is pretty damn good!

I've learned from experience that some monsters are not always as you describe. They can be the sexiest thing on the planet. It's not the outside, it's the inside that counts.
