The emptiness and I

The emptiness and I

A Poem by Anne’sRants

There is an emptiness
between the sky-
scattered with stars
and dreams where we can fly-

And grassy meadows
where we skipped and ran
with light hearts
and lighter feet

There is an emptiness;
deep, heavy, infinite
I hear it sometimes late at night

I know it visits
because even the buzz
of silence
has ceased its cry

I know it
when the crickets
stop singing
to the stars

I know it well.
we have become friends,
Him and I
he caught me when i fell

He is always there
waiting for me to slip
so he can
catch me again

Sometimes we'll sit-
the emptiness and I-
and watch the stars
dance across the sky

Emptiness is loud. It streams from the heart and echoes itself back to us, as if it's from the environment.
Beautiful rant Anne!

this is hauntingly beautiful...and such a truth in these days where emptiness, seclusion, loneliness are our three best friends, and the only ones we can get close to.
