On A Day Like this

On a day like this
With the sky so bleak and grey
I stroll along this bushland trail
And all along the way
There is that silence in the air
That heralds in the rain
It gives a sense of mystery
To all this green terrain

Not many birds do sing
There is just one or two
Who’s lonely calls do echo
On this morn so sweet and new
With everything so beautiful
The new day does await
The pitter patter of the rain
That the heavens will create

The wondrous lake lies quite, and still
As soft breeze touches trees
And makes them dance so gracefully
Though she’s a gentle breeze
The bleak sky lends a touch of drama
To the mystery of morn
As I walk this lonely wetland path
Just an hour after dawn
