Fresh and New

These things speak across generations.

 

You are so proud of your ignorance
And taunt me because of my wish for knowledge.
It seems that naiveté is in
And intelligence is so last year.

These books I carry are always in
So cool are the words within.
You think your slang is so ‘mad, yo’
When next year you’ll be saying something new.

So tease me about the words I use
And the books that keep me company,
Because tomorrow these books will be the same
And the only thing different will be my capacity.

I can relate so well to this! People around here use slangs like 'chirp, mad wheels, wheeling hard, 8, aint, ypu, definitley. etc...
It's annoying, I don't do it and ugggh.

This is very good. I enjoyed reading it; reminds me of me in some instances.
Sometimes I can relate to this.
I understand some people hating others because of their determination to be better.

This is a good poem Mar*. you have a unique way of expressing yourself. I like how your poem confronts peer pressure and sticks to a confined message. I don't like the font, but that's my nak, if you wish to know what it is about the font, it is a dry message font. On some poem it's good but if you want to push your message you need a pulsing font or a slightly bolder font. I like your balance in the stanzas. Overall an excellent write.

I can really relate to this. Ignorance is all the rage where I come from. Here is a new definition for you. Truck now means ugly where I come from. I think I'll keep my knowledge.
