The Hammered Men

A parody of T.S. Eliot's "The Hollow Men".

We are the hammered men

We are the stoned men

Stumbling together

Hats filled with beer. Hurrah!

Our slurred voices, when

We drink together

Are loud and obnoxious

As boys in college

Or fat feet over broken glass

In our wine cellar

Author's Note

For a recent project, we had a choice of writing about a poem, making an acrostic of the title, or making a parody. I chose the writing, but when I was reading The Hollow Men, this was born. It's only the first stanza, and i hope to add more and it needs a little editing. Hope it makes you at least chuckle.
