Secretly Admire

Secretly Admire

A Poem by Mason Rayburn

It wouldn't be lying if I say
That you are the highlight to my day.
It wouldn't be false if I were to whisper
That your eyes make me tremble and feel insecure.
Is it the truth that you want to hear?
Will that help you close out this year?
The truth is that orange looks best on you.
Though I'm sure that you could wear most any hue.
Your face in a garden seems right at home.
Perched by a pond on some rolling stone.
But stay far from the hose for I fear it might tangle
Your supple limbs and neck to strangle.
Also, ignore those faces behind you laughing.
Instead of stressing just try relaxing.
You wanted the truth, and I've given you some.
But there's more to hear if that's what you want.
I guess the truth is that I've found a friend.
One that also shies around other women and men.
A friend that is soft spoken, just like me.
As for the future, I guess we will see.
