Green

The color green is often associated with sickness, jealousy and greed. But it also means healing... and we all need to heal.

Since things started going downhill

I didn't know what anything means

I looked and looked

Wrote book after book

I didn't regard in my mind that I so often

Saw the color green

Why was the sunrise green?

It'd never been before

Out of every color I've seen

Why was the other half of my heart green?

And what was it all telling me?

Was I meant to go out

And find this color I associated with

Jealousy?

I don't know why

Every Sunday's green sunrise

There was an unknown bird's chirp

And it was calling me

I knew it was you

Why'd you leave so soon?
Don't you know we need you?

But it all became so obvious

You were trying to pass on some information

To help me find home

I couldn't do it alone

Not anymore

I am blue and he is yellow

Being together was like music from a cello

And I realized together

We were green

Green isn't jealousy, now I know

Because green is healing

And green led me to the daylight

The daylight I looked for 

For so long

It's better than any of the old songs

I guess I was wrong

Purple

And baby blue

And teal

They were all gone

The embers out

But above the embers

Were growing new leaves

On a lemon tree

And they were green.

Green has often been referred to in a negative way. Green with envy comes to mind, but when I think of green I think of green pastures, of trees, woodland and country scenes and that for me is healing. So many different shades to contemplate. I also think there is something really attractive in green eyes. My first love had green eyes, flecked with brown. Hazel. Such a lovely colour. That's where you took me Colacat with this poem. All good wishes.
