Blank Pages

Blank Pages

A Poem by Colby

A Notebook full of blank pages

and stubs from failed attempts

Again the pen flows across a fresh page

Minutes later it hits the fire

Running his hand through his hair

A deep breath

He starts to write his frustrations

Confessions

Failures

All his built up pain splashes the pages

Ink drains from his pen as he relives the moments

Moments he wants to forget

Tearing his heart apart

he goes on

Page after page

Fear drives him

Stopping now would kill him

No tears fall

He faces it all

Puts it all on himself

From the torn and battered pieces

his heart is slowly rebuilt

Growing stronger

He comes to the last page

His pen falls to the floor

He leaves the future blank and closes the book

Reaching into the desk he pulls out her picture

Places it between the pages

and lights a match
