I Wish To Be Told When To Die

I Wish To Be Told When To Die

A Poem by Cole Hayley

I Wish To Be Told When To Die

I wish to be told when to die

No chance to spit, or question why

I wish to be told when to die

I wish to be told when to cry

For my mothers death, and my

Wish to be told when to die.

I wish to be told when to die

To circle completely my own eye

Then I wish to be told when to cry

I wish to be told a creepy lie

An improper sit, but a bed to lie

I wish to be told when to die.

This is quite a unique plea, as if wanting to safe guard one's self from the task of being spontaneously, naturally, emotional, a real thought provoker, here.

So good, this is, Cole. I've missed reading your writes, you express yourself well into this one.
Burial, (one of my favs too) fits so well into this write. I think this was unique, for some fear of death can be too silent... well done.

This was a very intriguing poem. Makes me think about the human quality of planning things and never living in the moment. We always feel the need to know exactly when things are going to happen and how they are going to play out. Which isn't always the best thing. I believe living in the moment is just as important as planning the moment if not more. Sure the element of surprise isn't always going to be like a surprise birthday party or a random present your mother gives you, but I think if you knew when you were going to die, you wouldn't live life to its fullest potential. But maybe it'd give us more time to cope with it. Anyway, that's besides the point. Thank you for your poetry :3

A interesting poem. Death is a hard subject. We must be born and we must died. I wouldn't want to know when I will be gone. A time limit would make me try to do all things and I would waste my life. I like the repetition in the poem. Gave the poem a serious and honest feel. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is a unique piece that I'm sure will cause a lot of discussion.

I don't want to be told my future. It is left anonymous for a reason, I feel, and if that unknown force told me, it would probably drive me crazy. I liked the poem however. It was a bit different from your other writes, but still good. :) The simplicity worked. Great job! keep writing :)

be careful of the voice that tells you when to die, sometimes it is not the voice to listen to

Way to go Cole! The poem rings true of the innocence of the questions it asks or the request it makes. It says it simply with a fair reflection of a mind that no longer takes anything for granted but wishes to affirm its living presence in a situation that may be bigger than him. A fair new start indeed!
