Behind Her Beauty

Behind Her Beauty

A Poem by William Liston
"

resembles a ballad; was meant to be a love poem

"
Those eyes of yours disguise what pours
in weltering rains of hurt.
Your radiant face and brimming grace,
in deepest dark divert.
Your dulcet whispers, comely smile ...
yet still, you feel so weak.
The lonesome whiles and moments vile
are hidden when you speak.
Your lilting voice, such eloquent speech,
in truth, they wish to tell
of searing pain ~ its piercing peak,
how living life's been hell.
The scaring tears upon your cheek
reflect dire feelings blue,
yet all the pain that life can bring
has never dimmed your hue!

Oh my goodness! This is so beautiful. I love the style, the story, everything about it. It is a LOVE poem and a very beautiful one at that. "Yet all the pain that life can bring has never dimmed your hue!" is such a beautiful line. I just really love this poem a lot. Very well done I must say. I will most definitely be reading more of you work. Thank you for sharing such lovely writing.

You write with such clarity of the pain of the heart in love. I find it difficult that someone as
young as you could possibly have already experienced the range of emotions you write of. I too find that I'm drawn to found, lost and seeking of love as the source of my writing, but I have a few more years at it than you. I'm not critiquing, I think I'm somewhat jealous. I truly enjoy what you have to say and how you say it.

Another poem that touches the heart, pulling out emotion through words. Well done.

This one is right on! The flow and intention are clear; you didn't skip a beat. There's some great juxtaposition in here that has such a wonderful feel to it.

Keep it up..! You're definitely going somewhere as a writer- and that's not even considering your age. Did you know Hunter S. Thompson was 15 when he really started writing? There's a fantastic collection of his correspondence that I read when I was about your age.
