Standing in the Shadows

Life truly is a matter of perspective Inspired by Bamboo shoots and their struggle for the light

As children we are someone's daughter

   someone's son

     baby sister or brother

Standing in the shadow of those who have gone before

   Learning to yearn for the sun

      Reaching above

         Towards the light that filters through

Straining to push between those who stand above us

     Casting their shadows over the light we try to spread

        The darkened door that leads to our success hidden

            By the greatness that comes before by those who 

               Come before us in this life by fate and timing

Pushing we gain strength

        Knowledge, and the ability to one day

            Stand tall and one day too

               We will cast a great shadow for those 

                   Who looking up to us see that all

                       Possibilities are within our reach if only

                           We believe that we deserve to feel the sunlight.

Thank You for reading. This bamboo grows here in Missouri, it was transplanted and has taken over almost an entire side-road of her driveway. It is beautiful. The new shoots are so strong.

they grew all over my coast I miss home so much I have not actually ever said that to anyone it makes me cry but i cannot go back so i will look lovingly at the mountains and learn again...sorry transplanting is harder then I thought it was going to be
