Colorado (so that you don't have to do what readers used to do--guess.)

A Poem by CookeCody

You've never felt farther away than you do when I try to bring myself back to you, out of this muck and into your green grass
I miss the crispness of your air, like I was biting into an apple with every fresh breath I took
Watching the ocean above my head, there was nothing wrong with the way things were
Life was a sweet breeze in a forest full of fruit and light
All thanks to you, my yearning delight
I find myself faltering at the heartbeat when I see those old pictures of us
My smile was never wider than it was under your clouds
