American Dream

American Dream

A Poem by Kelly A. Brown

Wine drunk in the afternoon,
it's chilly outside and there's
frost on my windowshield.

I'm alone, still
sitting quietly atop the
American dream,
trying to capture it in my hands
and reclaim it's essence in oak barrels
with plum and black cherry
notes, dripping delicately all the way down my throat.
I bask in the flavor of America.
It tingles in my mind and makes me
wonder precariously about
tomorrow.
