Ogres and Pixies

Ogres and Pixies

A Poem by Counting Sheep

entire heavens open up
before my unseeing eyes.
through shut lids i swear
i can see oil-painted sunsets,
entire oceans of mermaids,
and forested valleys
home to ogres and pixies both.

in my imaginary world,
fairytales never told come alive.
campfire stories lost and forgotten
are reworded.

faeries whisper, next to my ear,
the stories of their birth
in childrens' voices,
enchanting my thoughts
and tickling my senses.
