Here.

Here.

A Poem by Courtney

You can spend your whole life trying
To change who you truly are.
When ev'ryday you are dying
More, how far then is too far?

If your life is based upon lies,
Your purpose goes to waste.
As a Phoenix, your soul should rise
From the ashes for a taste

Of unadulterated bliss
Which your freedom will allow.
That, as fleeting as love's first kiss,
Longs to break through and avow

The reason for your very life.
Your heart breaks when you can't see,
So you take up a jagged knife
And cut away your beauty

Until you don't know who you are.
Your soul starves of happiness,
Leaving a perpetual scar
Where your being will regress;

When all you needed to be saved
Was an unbroken mirror.
Each person has their own path paved
in gold, yet some grow nearer

To this pitch black and twisted place
That has become known as Earth.
It is Here where words can erase
Beauty, depleting the worth

Of those who truly embody
The meaning of perfection.
It is Here where it is money
That distorts a reflection.

It is right Here where vanity
Takes precedence over all,
Putting a price on what was free.
The importance of the fall

Of man can be traced back to where
Glass became repurposed as
A place to cut your skin and hair
To what society has

Deemed fit for their standards. You need
To learn to not abide by
Their laws. If all they want is you to bleed,
You should at least wonder why

You fight so hard to please strangers.
Fight for yourself and forget
What present themselves as dangers;
Allow your soul an outlet.
