A Poem by Courtney

Sure stars shine on encroaching horizons;
Sparkling truths that lie past the great beyond.
I breathe the bliss of shivering silence
That will me to drop my life and abscond

To greater plains, wherever they may be.
The ashy haze colours the cesious sky
And clings to our weary, earthen bodies,
And we wait, too unaware to wonder why.

I began to see through the heavy fog
That had lined the dreary earthly limits
For all of my existence. I have walked
Past deadpan men, who refuse to commit

To aspirations; stuck in daily chains
Unable to see they can be broken.
As I venture on, the drear remains
Yet a fire within me has awoken.

I reach ahead to the thick wall of smoke,
Cautiously walking through with bated breath.
My eyes burn; blinded not by the dense smoke
But by a white as pure as black is death.

My wide eyes find a midnight bed of stars;
A breathless, twinkling gold for me alone.
I glance back to the haze of torpid wars
And realize that I have found my home.

It's a very nicely written poem. I liked the structure of the lines and your depiction. It ends with a wonderful stanza as well. Nice work.

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing xx I'm glad you liked it
I like the concept.

"Where our hearts can feel the calmness
Where our mind can think without stress
Where our souls can lay down and rest
We are home, it's our place that is best..."

Thanks for the share.
