Come Back

Come Back

A Poem by CRP

Why must you be here?

Here of all places?

You always seemed

Tougher than steel.

How could someone like you,

Who was always so strong,

End up here,

A place that reeks of ...

Death?

I've brought you your favorites-

Favorite meal,

Favorite flowers,

Favorite CDs,

In hope that they'll help you recover.

I've been staying with you for awhile now,

All day

And all night.

You still haven't woken up.

The doctors say

You may never come back to us.

But I can't believe them.

How can I?

I have faith

That you are strong enough.

You'll wake right up

And it'll be just like before.

I hope you can hear me,

That you are listening,

And know that you are not alone.

Before sleep takes me away,

Before I am unable to see you until morning,

I have to say one more thing.

Come back.
