The Lost Crown

A Poem by Crazy Cat Man

A poem inspired by the Miss USA controversy with the celebrity blogger judge Perez Hilton and contestant Carrie Prejean. She was asked about the gay marriage issue and voiced her opinion that she disagrees with it. The judge berated her and called her a d

"
No room for Debate
Just accused of hate
Opinions never shared
Life isn't fair
Woman lost the crown
Because she stood her ground
Beliefs are dead
nothing she could've said
No more debates
We just berate

Nice piece. Yes, people who hold valuable titles and important roles in society are under constant scrutiny by our unintelligent fellow human beings. Ummmm. . . I'm not certain what she did, but I'm sure she wasn't hurting anyone- in fact, she was probably making many people happy?????

I don't think it's fair if she has lost the crown just because she is against gay marriages
Everyone has got their own opinions about certain things
And about those who are homophobes, we cannot blame them totally
They are just ignorant about homosexuality, and one day they'll perhaps realise that homosexuality is becoming more and more normal
Nice write

It's so truthful, and it really shows how sad society really is, and ignorant people are. Great write!!

Yep, funny thing is, I guess the judge thought she was a ditz because she should have lied to give a standard answer? This was a weird situation in that I think she gave an honest answer (based on her own beliefs) and lost a crown because of it...

I concur. As a person who lives in Cali, I believe the "gay rights" issue should have never been put in the hands of the residents. State officals here were far less conservative than the locals about this issue. We have come so far in history... I think in the future people will be shocked that in 2008 we didn't allow homosexuals to marry. Let me make this perfectly clear I AM ALL FOR GAY RIGHTS IN CALI AND IN THE REST OF THE WORLD... we are all apart of humanity and no one has the right to judge a person's sexual preference :)

I so missed that. That happened? As clueless as I am, I did enjoy the poem and as always your sense of humor shines through. Great job :)

I think it is great that you are addressing the injustice of the situation. I just think it should be with a better example then the Miss USA pageant and Perez Hilton's selfimportant oppinon of himself. The piece is well written, short and to the point.
