You're dead,

Throwing things at a wall to try and get your attention.

It won't change anything.

It wasn't exactly personal, nobody in my family has recently passed or anything. I originally wrote it with the thought of my grandfather who has dementia. I guess this poem is about how he can't remember. His memories are lost or "dead." Thanks so much for reviewing though, Dan! I really appreciate it :)

I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. My wife is a nurse on a ward that has all Alzheimer's patients, and she feels bad about it every day without ANY family ties. My prayers are with you and your grandfather. take care...dan

Hmm...yes, it's a pretty dark poem.
After reading it, it made me, to say, quite depressed.
And that's not a bad thing! :) It means the mood and tone was done well.
It's a free verse poem, but the structure is quite well done in emphasizing certain words, isolating others, and in general, creating an even greater sense of this dark atmosphere.
It's good in terms of making the audience feel isolated, dark, and upset, and like I said, that is a good thing for this poem if that was the intended atmosphere to have been created.

I can relate to this my teacher recently died from suicide. I really miss him, and he did a lot to help me since I had him for 6 months into the program. This is a lovely poem, and it just reminds me of him.

I love this piece. Its soooooo full of logic and sense at a time when logic seems to go straight out the window for most people. Grief is one of the hardest things in this life. Because we all know that death is coming either for us or for someone we loved, 'cause no one lives forever, but somehow we are still surprised when it does come. We are all really just hoping to die before the ones we love.

I wouldn't say it's TOO dark...just maybe like...hauntingly beautiful. I really like this. I feel like it is not only about people who actually have passed away, but also about people who have died in spirit. That also could be because I was listening to Skinny Love right before I read this...Either way, I really like it. =) Keep writing!!
