Life's Thunderstorms

A Poem by Cre8tiveheart

Life’s Thunderstorm

I close my eyes to listen as thunder rumbles overhead.

A sheet loosely covers my body, where I lay across the bed.

The air is thick with moisture, settling on my skin.

Anticipation of a rainstorm that is slowly moving in;

The atmosphere begins to moan while the pressure begins to build.

The horizon is cloaked in gloom; darkness acting as its shield.

Lightning streaks across the sky, leaving a contrast of black and white;

Lending evidence of nature’s battle that comes forth to show its fight.

What was once a gentle breeze now is a gust of wind;

The branches on the trees, mimic dancing as they bend.

The voice of thunder booms low and long. It is louder than before.

My windows shake with a rigorous vibe, and it rattles my front door.

Raindrops fall softly at first; it is such a soothing sound.

But the downpour becomes relentless; emulating a round of applause as it hit’s the ground.

The belly of heaven opens up, as if releasing a host of tears.

Cleansing all within its path, designed by the one we most revere.

The clouds move about zealously, sweeping the storm quickly past.

Leaving behind a fragrance so sweet, and Gods rainbow promise rays are cast.

At times our life may be like this. The problems we face resemble a squall.

We just need to remember we are never alone, and that God has control over all.

My how you captured the beauty and grace of a thunderstorm... I find them to be very sexy and your poem gives off that feeling in such a classy and subtle way that sends shivers down my spine... this is absolutely fabulous.
