happy Independence

happy Independence

A Poem by christopher fox
"

July 4th 2014

"
how free are we
when I fear my
calls
not knowing who
is listening
or if what I
say is wrong.
everything I do
cataloged
for someone new
as to sell me
for my habits
if this is freedom
I will not have it

how free are we
if I'm scared
to walk about
that I might get
stopped
and beaten
if I shout
or record a transgressor
while they in the
act
what is freedom
if I can't
do that?

how free are we
if we vote for
two men
its better than
one
just conditioned
to not see
the others,
another countries
news runs the
educated debate
its a shame
the majority
wouldn't understand
it anyway.

how free are we
if we are always
in war
it protects us
but there has
to be more
like what caused
that situation there?
is it something
we did fifty
years ago
and didn't care?
how much money
are people even
making off that?
feeding imps
it's a big trap

how free are we
when the world
says enough
rises up
tired of getting
trumped
like their vote
counts as a
tenth of ours
it's a sad
state to live in
if you're behind
them
but don't see
the bars.
