If I Had...

If I Had...

A Poem by christopher fox
"

If only I had...

"
If I had a voice
would I choose to
Speak?
diligently write that
my mouth might
with words create?
just teasing rhythms
that I might not
answer what I must.
confusing myself,
as I understand
in God we Trust.

If I had ears
could I ever hear?
listening for waves
but never near
just with two
as I focus for the
one
altogether three
the way is just
not fun.

If I had hands
might I ever feel?
in darkness searching
for what I've been told
is real.
the ridges and edges
of lines drawn too far.
feeling for my life,
But this feeling,
tells me that
I had never start.

If I had a tongue
Should I ever taste?
wasted opportunities tracing
emotions misplaced.
not finding the hint
hidden in the image
focusing instead
on limits
and schisms.

If I had eyes
could I ever see?
what lays before me
surrounded by a
battlefield
bloodied indeed.
It's always there
just something I feel.
limiting in fun,
I pray for what
might be real.
