Fleeting Freedom

Fleeting Freedom

A Poem by Shiningwolf

A gentle breeze passes me by
So refreshing and free
and yet fragile as glass.
I can almost touch it.

Birds are calling out to one another across the world
Chirping echoing off of the tallest mountains
but does no one hear them?
I do.

I hear everything
From the birds chirping to children laughing
Such an innocent laugh
Purity in its rawest form

This life is so beautiful and gentle
So easily it can be taken away
In the middle of the night

Reaching out I am pulled down
Down into the belly of the earth
Where there is silence.
Agonizing silence

No children, no birds, No life.
Silence...
Shaking the pull that is on me
I fall further into darkness.
Will no one save me?

No.

Wrestling with my own darkness, I suddenly feel a breeze
It lifts my heart and suddenly I am awake.

The birds are chirping again, outside my window.
I reach out to only hit bars.
Sometimes I forget I am in a cage.

As this world continues to turn I am lost.
Only to wait until the night returns again.
