Shattered Dreamers

Shattered Dreamers

A Poem by Crystal

a poem that i wrote in 5 minutes

A world so vast,
possibilities seem infinite.
So much to do
So much to experience.

Everything is attainable,
or so we are told.
Our youth spent
with eyes bright
and a mind full of dreams.

What happens
to that youthful zest for life
as we grow older?
Adults with repressed dreams,
living a life they don't want to be living.

It's truly sad
how people settle for less.
A trail of neglected hopes
with people reassuring themselves
that they are happy,
that they did the best they could.

I love this. The concept is really good. Settling is the worst thing that anyone can do. You've expressed that so well in this beautiful piece. It's so inspiring! :)
